The Gareth Jones Society
“Everywhere was the cry, ‘Thereis no bread. We are dying.
This cry came from every part of Russia, from the Volga, Siberia,
White Russia, the North Caucasus, Central Asia…
Even twenty miles away from Moscow there was no bread." Gareth Jones 1933
The Gareth Jones Society represents the Welsh journalist
Gareth Richard Vaughan Jones (1905-1935)
and continues research into his life and work.
It promotes greater understanding of his eye-witness testimony
of famine in both Soviet Russia and Soviet Ukraine.
The Society is the contact point for copyright requests
for the Gareth Vaughan Jones Estate.
The Society seeks to defend Gareth's reputation
and encourage honest presentation of his work.
It combats its regular misuse,
and falsification, for political ends
by both the Ukrainian Far Right
and the international Far Left.
The Society seeks, in particular, to address the damage
caused by the Ukrainian nationalist propaganda film
