Below is a blog page created in the wake of NATO's Bucharest Summit in 2008 and found on Nikolas Gvosdev's the Ex-Washington Realist. There are many worthwhile comments but in particular it homes a fascinating and prescient analysis by David Habakkuk of the implications of trying to bring Ukraine and Georgia into NATO. Mr Habakkuk is someone with strong family connections to Gareth's family and a very impressive grasp of the region's history and politics. A now deleted page by Gordon Hahn that Mr Habakkuk refers to has been rescued here - like Mr Habakkuk's post(s) it is well worth reading. The blog has been 'de-anonymised' in part, with permission, to clarify attribution.
